ABOUT HINENI HOMESTEAD
“Hineni” (hee-neh-nee). Hebrew. Meaning, “Here I am”, but so much more. “Hineni” is a response of sacred and undiluted presence, indicating a readiness to receive and respond to whatever experience is about to unfold. It is a posture of the heart, open and willing to go forth, to do whatever God is about to ask, despite not knowing what it is.
That was our prayer in April 2020, when Hineni Homestead was created. It began years before with a call on our hearts to minister to and serve alongside a non-profit in Gurley, Alabama named Graces of Gurley. A mission to “foster generational change through healthy relationships in Christ-focused community”.
Fast-forward a few years, and, along with my mother, our family of six sold our house in Huntsville and we moved in together on a property in Gurley. It wasn’t enough to share part of our lives one day a week with this community, we were all in. God faithfully led us there, and it has been one adventure after another since!
We knew we wanted to use our land and resources in a way to serve, but didn’t know how. That’s when we found the term “Hineni”. It was so fitting, in a way we were unable to describe, our hearts toward this mission and our lives to this community. Slowly, we have built a small homestead where we raise pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs and more. It has been an opportunity for us to share joy and life with those around us, and to develop relationships while creating lifelong memories with our children and each other.
As a stay at home mom, homeschooling family, raising these animals and creating products that are natural and sustainable, beautiful and useful, has been a way to spread the Word of God and the love for our community in a way we never imagined. God always goes before and prepares the way for us. It will continue to be our prayer that our response is always “Hineni” when He calls.
Thank you for your interest in our lives and our homestead! We pray we can bless all who visit!
